Conventional insurance is rigid and centralized. Strict underwriting, high agency fees, upfront premiums and slow claim payments keep many people out. Only about 9% of people in OECD countries and about 4% in non-OECD countries are covered, so most people go without protection and a large need goes unmet.
Some countries has no national health insurance scheme for the general public, and few people hold commercial cover. Many people work informally or seasonally, so regular payments are hard to keep up, especially in rural and low-income households. Awareness of health insurance is also low.
RURI MAP is an online mutual aid platform. Mutual aid is already familiar globally, and people pool their resources to help those in need, without underwriting, premiums or agency fees. RURI MAP lets members support each other when they need it, on a decentralized blockchain platform that keeps the process open and easy to check.
Gem trading runs through a long, opaque supply chain that crosses many borders. Buyers face real risks, including environmental damage at the mine, child labor, tampered quality, forged certificates and links to organized crime.
Sri Lanka is one of the world's leading gemstone producers, and it encourages hand-mining by artisanal miners to protect the environment. Sri Lankan gemstones sell for high prices around the world, but the miners have yet to share fully in that value.
“RURI.shop” is an ethical, transparent, fair-trade gem and jewelry brand based in Japan. Its traceability system is built on blockchain and smart contracts, and customers can shop online or at our flagship store in Kamakura. We introduce Sri Lanka's high-quality gemstones to buyers worldwide and support a gem-centered way of life we call Gem Life.

Digital Gem & AppThe Sri Lankan government has introduced measures such as licensing, export permits, and gem-certification systems to promote the healthy, sustainable development of the gem industry, with the National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) playing a central role.
RURI is developing a “Digital Gem Passport (DGP) in NFT form” together with a Fairtrade Platform. These extend RURI's blockchain-based traceability system and DigitalGem, and are planned to integrate with NGJA's licensing and export-application systems. Turning the DGP into a one-of-a-kind digital asset tied to each gemstone as an NFT raises both the consumer experience value and the distribution value of the gem. This allows consumers worldwide to return fair-trade premiums directly to the country of origin through DGP transactions on the Gem Fairtrade Platform.
